Ali McLaughlin Photography bio picture

    Hi! I'm Ali, a natural light, on location photographer in the Northern VA/ D.C area specializing in portraits. I love seniors, families, and children. I also take on a limited amount of intimate weddings a year. When I'm not working I love traveling, antique shopping, wineries and spending time with my family.

    I think each individual is unique and beautiful in their own way. I try and capture that in your photographs and let your personality shine.

Kristen & Nick { Whitehall Manor, VA Wedding}

Second shooting has been such a blessing for me this year! It gives me the opportunity to work with amazing photographers, learn the ins and outs of a wedding day and shoot with beautiful couple at beautiful venues. I did a lot of second shooting from early Spring to Summer and a few Fall ones, and my last two were this past weekend. What a joy it was to be a part of a couple’s special day. I’m so grateful for the opportunity God gave me this year.

I second shot this wedding with the talented Stephanie Messick Photography at Whitehall Manor back in June. It was a beautiful, sunny day with the sweetest couple. They came all the way from San Diego where they are stationed to have a  Rustic, VA Wedding with military honors. I loved all the vintage details from the tea cups, to the  poetry, and love letters in the reception details. Here are some of my favorites from the day.

Seaside, Florida { Travel Photography}

Sometimes, last minute getaways are the best. I wasn’t planning on joining my family in Florida with just taking a vacation in August and moving into a new house, but family is important and I’m so glad I booked this trip last minute, so many fun memories in just a few days were made! I even got to visit with my old friend Robyn and catch up. She was sweet enough to pick me up at the airport and drive me down, but not before lunch on the beach and a wonderful massage, it doesn’t hurt to be friends with a massage therapist!

Ever since my sister introduced us to one of her favorite spots in Florida, I’ve been obsessed with the quaint little town of Seaside, and Watercolor, FL. The homes are just so beautiful. I could walk through the little town all day and just admire all the shops, sample everything from the food trucks and get lost along 30A. I wanted to spend a little more time in Rosemany and Aly’s Beach, we did stop through for a drink in the evening and it was gorgeous! I will have to put it on the list for next time…

It was so wonderful being able to spend a few days with my family in Santa Rosa beach at a cabin in Grayton Beach State Park. Especially spending some time with my adorable niece, and nephew who just turned one!.. I was able to do some quick family pictures for them. So happy to give them these memories…

The water was so pretty and blue. We pretty much had in to ourselves being off season. We plan to go back and next time rent one of these cute seaside homes!

What wonderful memories, If you haven’t been to this part of Florida, you really need to visit! I can’t wait to go back!

Welcoming Callah { Aldie, VA Newborn Photography}

Last week I had the pleasure of photographing this sweet family and the adorable new addition to their family Callah. I love how unique her name is! Her little brother’s couldn’t get enough of kissing her. It was so sweet! A little girl to complete their family.

I’m loving coming to my clients home for lifestyle sessions these days, it keeps it stress free for mom and baby.

You have a beautiful family Shannon and Logan, Congratulations again!

Cora’s First birthday session { Sky Meadows Park, Delaplane, VA Child Photography}

I met Cora’s mom at a wedding I recently shot. I love referral sessions! As soon as they pulled up and I saw all the balloons and Etsy decor I knew it was going to be a fun session! Mom did such a great job styling the shoot. I love when all the little details are well thought out, makes my job easy! We met up at the beautiful Sky Meadows State Park, I’ve become so obsessed with this location.

Little Cora is SUPER adorable and was so good during our session! What a little doll. She really could be a baby model!

Also, I have to add this was the first time I got stung by a bee at the end of my session, Thank God, it was right at the end. My foot ended up swelling two times the size and bruising, and a week later I am still having swelling. I don’t know what kind of bee stung me that caused this much pain, but it was all worth it! I guess such a fun job needs a downside sometimes right?

Next time I’m wearing close toed shoes!

Spring & Jordan’s Capitol Hill Wedding { D.C Wedding Photography}

Spring and Jordan were married in an intimate ceremony on Capitol Hill with twenty of their closest family and friends. It was a perfect day. I know planning to get to the day was a long road for them, they had talked about a Destination wedding, a bigger D.C wedding, and in the end, and in speaking to their priest, an intimate ceremony was just what they wanted. We started the day at the Capitol Hill Hotel, and we all Ubered it to St. Joseph’s Cathedral, this non city girl loves seeing the ins and outs of City life! ( Oh, and St Joseph’s Cathedral was spectacular inside!) Following the Ceremony we did Portraits around D.C,  So fun, and ended the evening at Sonoma Wine bar with a delicious dinner, wine and Baked and Wired cakes!

I’ve known this sweet couple for a few years now, through one of my good friend Autumn, she’s her sister! They live close to Capitol Hill, Ahh, so fun to experience city life!I have loved getting to know both of them through breakfast in the city and tours of Eastern Market. They have been together awhile and are so perfect together. I love how these images capture their D.C life so perfectly. You both made a great choice, your wedding was so perfect and so you. I was so happy to be a part of your wedding day.

Wishing you many years of Happiness! Can’t wait for future tours of the City!:-)Love you both.
