Savannah { A town with a bit of Southern Charm}.

Today is a little something different on the blog. One of my other passions besides photography is traveling. I love seeing new cities and photographing them. There is something about the adventure of going somewhere I have never been. I never get tired of it. This time I was able to fit in Savannah and Charleston.. ( which is next on the blog!)

On our way down to Florida, we stopped into Savannah. I fell in love with this city, its weeping willows, Southern hospitality and Southern charm. City Market is very charming with it’s cobblestone sheets lined with shops. Check out the candy store, Savannah’s Candy Kitchen.. filled with every candy imaginable. I had smores, which were amazing and later ice cream from a cute little old fashioned ice cream shop. Leopold’s. Suffice to say I blew my healthy eating.. but that’s part of living a little, right?

We did a little shopping on Broughton Street, and took a walking tour of Historic Downtown. We tried to eat at Paula Deen’s restaurant but it is very popular and needed reservations to get in. We ended up having lunch at the Bohemian Hotel.. which had awesome rooftops views of the city.

We stopped at the fountain Savannah is famous for, Forsyth Park. I have never seen so many photographers doing shoots at one time. I kind of wanted to photo bomb one! Hehe. I wish we had time for some of the beautiful plantations.. next time! I know there was so much I wanted to see and missed.

I will definitely be back for a weekend trip to this beautiful city! And stop off at Tybee Island. I recommend this city for a romantic getaway. So much to see and do and wonderful restaurants.

Michelle & Thom {Washington D.C engagement}

So in my last post I was talking about how much I love the Cherry Blossoms this time of year.. so excited for two things.. I got to see them twice this year and my cousin got engaged! I loved when Michelle’s boyfriend, Thom emailed me the week of.. telling me his plan how he wanted to propose to Michelle at the Martin Luther King Memorial and get some photos around the Cherry blossoms… let me tell you.. he totally surprised her, as she thought he was taking her to a Black tie affair in D.C.

I had my phone ready as he pretended to call his sister.. but he actually called me to let me know where he was. Luckily I spotted him pretty quickly amongst the millions of people. I totally thought Michelle would see me, but she didn’t and I was able to catch the whole thing as it went down, and after we did an engagement shoot around the Memorials, we even caught the most beautiful sunset right at the end. Tom being the great guy he is, planned a romantic dinner after for the two of them,  breakfast with her parents, and even a weekend getaway. What a good guy! Looking forward to their wedding and wishing them many happy years together!

Cherry Blossoms {D.C Spring }

I love heading down to D.C in Spring when everything is in bloom. I have this fascination with the Cherry blossoms. It’s like my own tradition I made, to go down and photograph them every year.

If you haven’t checked them out and you are in the city you definitely should! Also, the Smithsonian gardens are gorgeous this time of year. Of course seventy degree weather doesn’t hurt either taking a nice stroll in the city.

It may be a little crowded, but its definately worth it! We even passed by Newt Gingridge with the secret service surrounding him. Very cool.

I plan on taking lots of days trips this Spring and will document them, if you are like me and have wanderlust.:-)Definitely come back and check out my blog! and let me know if you have an D.C favorites!

Tyler & Carolyn {Engaged} Old Town Alexandria, VA

Tyler and Carolyn were referred to me by one of my photographer friends, Lisa Boggs.. thanks Lisa! I shot their proposal back in the Fall.. they are a super sweet couple. Their love for each other clearly shines through. They were the first couple I ever shot a proposal for.. and when Tyler emailed me to shoot their engagement, I was thrilled to work with them again!

Tyler and Carolyn picked Old Town Alexandria for their shoot. I love shooting down there as every time I can find new nooks and cranies I have never seen before. Not to mention the cute waterfront and back alleys.

Thanks so much for braving the cold day Tyler and Carolyn! Best wishes for a long life together!

Taylor+ Gary {Engaged} Fredericksburg, VA

I can’t believe I am so behind on blogging this cute couple’s engagement! I had so much fun shooting their session back in the Fall in Old Town Fredericksburg. The leaves were gorgeous, and they were one of my sweetest couples! I loved seeing how they interacted together.Gary is in the military and I know how difficult that can be to spend long days and months apart.. which will make it that much sweeter when they ARE married! You can tell just how in love they are by just spending a day with them. What struck me the most was how kind and polite they both were, you don’t see that as much these days, good job mama!. I knew from my first meeting in the coffee shop with Taylor and her mom, we would be a great fit!

I can’t wait to shoot their wedding in July! Taylor will be a beautiful bride!
